Required Training A total of 4 years of residency training is required. The first three years are divided into the Clinical, Academic, and Practicum years. The Clinical year of Preventive Medicine may be substituted with a first post-graduate year in an approved primary care specialty such as Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Pediatrics. The Academic year leads to a Master's in Public Health or equivalent degree. The Practicum year involves additional experience and field training in Preventive Medicine.
