Required Training
A total of 4 years of residency training is required.  The first three years are divided into the Clinical, Academic, and Practicum years.  The Clinical year of Preventive Medicine may be substituted with a first post-graduate year in an approved primary care specialty such as Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Pediatrics.  The Academic year leads to a Master's in Public Health or equivalent degree.  The Practicum year involves additional experience and field training in Preventive Medicine. The last forth year of training involves Teaching and or Research in Preventive Medicine
