About Us

Studentsof Medicine.com was created by Andres Jimenez MD, Dartmouth/Brown Med Class of 2004, during his Medical School Years.  He even took a year off to complete this site and idea, and his first book, "Getting into Today's Highly Competitive US Medical Schools" available through this site and various book stores across the nation.  His motivation to create this site was from his blessing in having a family full of physicians to serve as role models and mentors early on.  Dr. Jimenez has a father, and two older brothers who are practicing physicians here in the United States, and through their advice and guidance while pre-med, he took many early steps on his way to medical school, keeping him ahead of fellow applicants.  Ultimately this led to him having choices on where to go for medical school.  No one is perfect, and some must learn key lessons on their own, but hopefully you can learn from the experience of others.  For this reason,  Andres combined the advice from his family, and lessons from his own experiences in getting into medical school, and created this site and book as a resource for all of his viewers.  The goal is to pass down important information to all levels of pre-med students, from high school to college.  In addition, after completing medical school, he created many new resources for current medical students, interns and residents.  In the summer of 2005, he completed his second book "Planning your medical career, a medical student's guide;" which was published online as an e-book available from this site.

"I hope that I can create a self maintained resource whose direction I can oversee to ensure quality and usefulness, while pursuing a career in Thoracic Surgery.  I was blessed to have so many family members to serve as mentors, and help guide my career into medicine.  I understand this is a rare circumstance, and want to give all access to the same resources I had when pursuing my dream to becoming a doctor.  Good luck" (Andres Jimenez, 2003)
